Gum Treatment

Periodontal (Gum) health has become well established as the cornerstone of good general health. Today's methods are improved and are so different (for the better) than just 15 years ago, that the ordeal is gone and the cure is nearly here.

Dr. Scott Gradwell (surgeon)

Dr. Scott Gradwell (surgeon) and Dr. Jay Freedman (restorative dentist) have worked together as a team since 1989. Their body of successful outcomes stands as evidence to their skills, innovation, commitment to continued learning and drive towards excellence. No one need be without the ability to eat well, smile with confidence or be their best.

21st Century diagnostic tests, techniques and methods, medication and remedy’s and home care aids have all but eliminated the necessity for “gum surgery.” Don’t assume because your parents required it or you had it done in the past, it is still the standard of care. Each individual has their own diagnosis and treatment plan. We are blessed to have Scott Gradwell, D.M.D. as our staff Periodontist.

Together we can tackle almost any case and with your help at home have a successful outcome. Gum Treatment isn’t just limited to treating gum disease; “gummy smiles” can be eliminated, defects repaired with grafts, destructive muscle attachments (or frenum pulls) corrected, and even certain types of bone loss can be restored and stabilized. Don’t let the ghosts and misconception of the past keep you from good periodontal health.

Dr. Gradwell has received specialty training in Periodontics at Temple University School of Dentistry. In addition to his practice here he maintains a private practice in Allentown and is Chief of Periodontics at Leigh Valley Hospital. He and Dr. Freedman regularly attend meetings of the American Academy of Periodontics and other continuing education courses that keep them at the forefront of this rapidly advancing field. Whether it be the simple placement of a medication in that infected gum pocket or specific application of laser therapy to correct a more serious gum problem, we are prepared.
